Abstract

Two-compartment bottle is intended for pharmaceutical and veterinary prods. for use with substances which react with each other and must only be mixed immediately before injection. The bottle is made from two parts (1,2); part (2) is made from a plastic material while part (1) is made from glass. The base of part (2) consists of a membrane which separates the two compartments thus formed. One compartment is closed by a stopper which is fitted with a punch with its cutting blade near the membrane; this compartment holds the active powder, while the liq. is contained in the other compartment. The two are mixed by removing a safety ring and forcing the stopper downwards; the punch cuts the membrane and the powder falls into the liq. The mixt. is withdrawn by pushing the syringe needle through a rubber plug. Either of the two compartments may be chosen to hold the solid, although the upper is more usual. The mixt. is not prepd. until immediately before the injection.
