Abstract

The circuit for generation of sparks is used especially for ignition of gaseous fuels. The spark generating electrodes have an arrangement for producing high voltage with low energy when actuated by a switch. A spark is generated in the spark with relatively high energy so that it supplies a holding current to the spark gap after the ignition or ionisation. The arrangement for high voltage generation has a high voltage pulsating transformer and a capacitor which is discharged through the high voltage transformer and generates an initial breakthrough in the electrode gap. The arrangement for producing lower voltage has another, additional capacitor which is discharged for the maintenance of the spark through the spark gap.
