Abstract
Plant for prodn. of a high temp. plasma by means of an arc fed with AC, comprises a current source, one pole of which is connected to a first electrode (cathode) and the other to an anode, which is below, and a device which can make contact between the anode and a third electrode (counter electrode), the plasma being formed by an arc struck between the first two electrodes, the third electrode being connected to a alternative current source so as to provoke an alternative arc, the alternative current source being connected to a fourth electrode. Plasma can be rotated between two and three electrodes, usable power can be increased without increase of current. Longitudinal arc parameters can be varied, supplementary gas can be injected into spaces between the electrodes.
