Abstract

The table top is fitted to a circular tube (1) by means of a plug (2) in the end, with a seal (3, 4) forming an air cylinder. A rod (8) inside the cylinder has a piston (7) at its upper end, the lower being fixed to the table base. Seals (15, 18, 19) prevent leakage between rod and cylinder and between each side of the piston. The piston has air passages (10) through it, opened and closed by a spring loaded plate valve (11, 12, 14). Telescopic sections surround the cylinder. Compressed air elevates and lowers the top, this being held at the required height by a hand friction brake.
