Abstract

Combustible material is atomised and at 300 deg.C is a gas, liq., granular solid or a liq. with solid components, and be pumped at least at 300 deg.C. Steam(s) of the material and stream(s) of an auxiliary gas are fed under press. through an elongate zone, in which the material is atomized by expansion of the gas, while the steams are permitted to split into partial streams and to reunite, and pref. to change their flow direction along the total zone length. The feeds of auxiliary and combustible gases to the zone is adjusted such that the auxiliary gas assumes a larger vol. fraction in the atomised prod. than the combustible fuel. Heavy fuel oils and high-viscosity by-prods. can be combusted.
