Abstract

In a process for the production of decorative designs having different structures in metallic colours on a metal substrate, these structures are mechanically produced. One metallization layer is electrolytically deposited on the substrate and is afterwards etched away, either chemically or electrochemically, according to a certain pattern. The remaining layer serves as a decorative or as a masking surface, which is resistant to processing. The metallization layer is processed before the etching operation. The process makes the use of matting brushes or of sand-blasting on sharply divided surfaces in the same plane possible.
