Abstract

A plastics bottle top has an integral spout (14) for discharging the content of the bottle. An internal sleeve (22) locates over the neck (86) of the bottle so that it forms a sealed fit. A concentric outer wall (18) of the top has an axial groove (36) which locates the hinged spout (14). With the spout in the open position, its centre hole communicates with a radial hole (34) near the spout hinge. The spout is held in this position by a flexible section (44) of the top end face. When the spout is pressed into its location slot (36), the outlet hole (34) is sealed off by a nose (56) on the spout hinge. A raised lug (50) engages the free end (72) of the spout to hold it in the closed position.
