Abstract

The current supply to a magnetic particle coupling between a motor and output shaft is regulated by a control circuit and output shaft is regulated by a control circuit to provide a constant speed. A second arrangement enable two constant speeds to be achieved within one operating cycle. The output shaft of the drive carries a speed sensor in the form of a disc (22) that has apertures sensed by a detector (23). The pulsed output of the detector is transmitted to an amplifier (30) over a pulse rate doubling circuit (29). The amplifier output is integrated and is compared (26) with the output of a reference input potentiometer (25). The difference signal may be used to provide control of the current to the magnetic particle coupling (7) coil to maintain constant speed.
