Abstract

The turbocharger turbine (9) is driven from the engine exhaust gases which are allowed to impinge upon the turbine (9) which is carried in a turbine casing (8). An outlet valve (2) is located in a tube (1) coaxially located in the discharge of the turbine. The valve is connected by a spindle (5) to a crank (6). The crank is linked to a spring (3) and to a piston (4). The spring (3) acts to close the valve (2) and the piston (4) acts to open the valve. The piston (4) is connected to the gas intake by a passage (7). A decrease in exhaust pressure closes the valve, allowing pressure increase in the turbine. The system evens out engine operation.
