Abstract

The back of the apparatus is a vertical rectangular box in which is a pair of parallel levers, pivoted at the bottom and forming part of a frame which has a telescopic arm carrying a head rest placed at the nape of the patient's neck. As the patient, seated in a chair and retained by a strap around the knees, pushes back with his head, a cable on the pivoting arm pulls up a weighted lever system which provides resistance. The inertia causes the system to follow the movement forward of the head of the patient, who must exert a braking force.
