Abstract

The blade assembly of this cable sheath cutter is mounted on a circular plate that is rotated at a sufficiently high speed to cause centrifugal forces to act upon three counter-weights (8). These are linked to three knife blades carries (9) in such a way that as the weights are displaced away from the centre of the plate, the knives are brought inwards. The weights are spring-loaded to give them a progressive motion and they are adjusted for movement distances by screws (14). The cable is step fed through the centre of the disc (2) and the knives give a clean and accurate cut through the sheath.
