Abstract

Rolling bearing, esp. for the feeding devices on rotary forging rolling mills, for supporting the revolving rod in the slotted hub during its axial movement and stepwise rotation, where the peripheral force is transmitted by the sides of ribs on the hub to the side walls of slots in the revolving rod; between the ribs and the slots in the rod is a chain of roll elements, pref. cylindrical rollers, which transmit the peripheral force but can also roll along their track during the axial movement of the rod, the rollers then travelling round a semi-circular track and back down a return channel. To prevent the occurrence of undesirable flat zones on the rollers, the supporting surfaces of the roller track are provided with small undercuts. Used for axial feeding, and rotating pierced blanks through 90 degrees, on pilger rolling mills for mfg. seamless tubes, the rolling bearing reducing the resistance to motion of the revolving rod by min. 70%, thus increasing the speed of feeding the mill and raising output.
