Abstract

The electric locomotive has axles (251) (252) driven by bevel gear boxes (24) and cardan shaft drives (22) driven by one or more traction motors (3) via a change-speed type of gear box (7). This is controlled by a fork, with a neutral position. The output shaft (13) is joined by cardan shaft (22) to the bevel box (24) by means of the shafts (251) (252) with a sliding coupling device (18) (19) and is driven by an intermediate shaft (9) coupled by gear to the output shaft (2) of the traction motor. The locomotive is easily towed from one site to another, virtually as an ordinary wagon. In the neutral position of the fork, there is no fear of over-speeding the motor.
