Abstract

The engine (1) drives through clutch (2) and shaft (3) and coupling (4) to the differential (6). The drive is then taken through gear drives (7) at each side of two shafts (8), (10) connected by coupling (9). These two shafts run down each side of the vehicle through joints (12), shafts (13) to gearboxes (15) driving the first wheels (17) via shaft (16). Two further shafts (18) go via joint (19), shaft (20), joint (21) and shaft (22) to another pair of gearboxes (15). These drive the wheels (17') in similar manner to wheels (17). All the couplings are standard universal joints and speed changing is effected using bevel gears.
