Abstract

A hydraulically operated double-acting oil well pump has a spool valve which can slide on a rod joining two pump pistons. The spool valve directs the power fluid in turn below the upper piston for an up stroke and above the lower piston for a down stroke. The optimum timing for the double-acting pumping cycle results in the best possible efficiency. Longer service life of the moving parts is combined with greater functional reliability and easy mfr. The greatest possible piston dia. can be accommodated in a given casing size.
