Abstract

The beam has an upper horizontal member (1) and a lower horizontal member (2). At the ends of these members there are vertical members (3 & 6) together with intermediate vertical struts (4 & 5) and inclined struts (7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12). There are a number of diagonal bars (15 & 16) which take part of the vertical component reaction at the ends of the struts. There is also a secondary system of diagonal bars (13 & 14) which are intended to assure the stability of each of the struts. The beam is for use for the roofs of buildings or for similar purposes such as floors etc.
