Abstract

The system for building in prefabricated components uses a series of horizontal ring beams which are tied together by vertical columns. The columns are of tubular form and fit into sockets in the ring beams. A template is utilised at foundation level to fix the column positions. Construction procedure entails placing the template, driving stub columns into the ground and placing the first ring beam (17) onto the stub columns. Columns extensions (10) are then placed in ring beam sockets and the succeeding ring beam placed. The latter two operations are repeated until the desired building height is achieved, when a topping-off ring beam is placed.
