Abstract

At the operating lever, the cable sleeve fits into a cylindrical termination fitting and the cable is terminated onto the operating lever itself. The lever rotates on a spindle on the mounting plate solid with the bicycle frame. The sleeve termination fitting is spring loaded away from the mounting plate to take up play between cable and sleeve. A spring loaded locking lever rotates on the mounting plate but is held clear of the termination fitting by a lug on the operating lever. When the lever is used to pull the cable, the locking lever is released and clamps the termination fitting relative to the mounting plate to take up play.
