Abstract

A hopper comprises two parts, the upper (4) having an inward opening charging door (1). Material being loaded drops through a safety grid (3) into the lower part (8). This has a cross-shaped insert (10) to improve discharge flow (9). On top of the upper part of the hopper is an exhaust fan (7), mounted in a housing which contains bag type filters (6). The fan switches on when the door is opened, dust being caught on the filters as air is exhausted. When the door closes, the fan switches off and the dust is shaken back into the hopper. An adjustable partition (5) alters the flow velocity.
