Abstract

Fine adjustment of the butt of a rifle can be made by slackening a screw with its head located inside a deep counterbore through the end of the butt, sliding the butt the required amount along a slot at the breech, then tightening the screw. Slack connection is avoided by a double washer under the screw head, one portion having a convex face, the other having a concave face, giving a spherical seating.
