Abstract

Locknuts are fitted with a polyamide friction washer of slightly undersize bore, retained by an ancillary cap clipped into a small flange or recess on the face of the nut. Used for mfr. of open ended or of cap nuts. The overall size of the main nut body is reduced, thus lowering material and machining costs. The polyamide component does not have to be forced through an undersize opening during assembly, thus reducing damage of force-fit installations.
