Abstract
Self-elevating platform for use when erecting shuttering for buildings of more than storey. Instead of the conventional system in which platforms are lifted, usually by a crane, as each floor is completed which is a time-consuming and often dangerous exercise, a special type of self-elevating platform equipped with a shear-leg apparatus which can be attached to the wall being erected is used. An ordinary winch is then employed to lift the platform up from floor to floor by means of a pulley on top of the shear leg. The platform has pulleys which run inside the flanges of the shear leg.
