Abstract

Pusher appts., operating under a vacuum, is intended for use in transferring pastes in the delicatessen industry. It consists of a hermetically sealed cylindrical tank with a lid having two orifices. It is fitted with an internal piston which is guided by a central rod. The piston is brought to the bottom of the tank by operating the vacuum pump with 2 valves (E and D) open and the other 3 valves (A, F and G) closed. When the piston reaches its lowest point, valve D is closed and F opened. When the tank assembly is evacuated, valve A is open and the paste in the wagon is sucked into the tank; any air in the paste is drawn out and evacuated through the orifice B. When the tank is full, the valves A, F and E are closed, the vacuum pump stopped and the compressor started with the valve G opened. The compressed air arrives beneath the piston and the paste subjected to a constant pressure; it is forced through the orifice B to reach the working table via the operator-controlled valve D. Perfect homogeneity is obtd. in the finished prod.; its keeping qualities are improved as well its appearance.
