Abstract

An aerosol container which can be used for a number of purposes, has two tubular compartments (I, II), one inside the other, each closed at top and bottom by end pieces and pistons (14, 19). The lower piston (14) is attached to the end of a hollow shaft (13) round which the upper piston (19) slides. Two chambers (A, B) are formed, the upper to hold the pressurised liquid, the other to contain a vacuum. When the container is being filled via the nozzle (12), the upper piston is pushed downwards, creating the vacuum in the lower compartment. The space between the piston is open to atmosphere. During subsequent removal of the pressurised liquid, the vacuum maintains pressure on the upper chamber. A third chamber can contain pressurised air or gas to supplement the vacuum.
