Abstract

A low pressure gas cock with its inlet (2) in line with the spindle, has the outler (3) at right angles. The stem (9) has a cap head (14), connected to it by a torsion spring (16) and a pin (17). This stem passes through a nut (19) and plastics sealing collar (25) and is locked on the tap body by a circlip (23). The other end of the stem is fitted with a plastics plug (29), chamfered and relieved to seal the inlet and joined to the collar by a moulded plastic bellows (24), to form a single sealed unit. Turning the cap screws the stem down, without it rotating, the spring and pin assembly slipping to prevent overpressure, forming a friction coupling to avoid breakage.
