Abstract

The belt (5) of a troughed conveyor is carried on sets of rollers (1) spaced along the track and supported by cables each side. Each set has a central roller (3) and one each side (2, 4), these latter being angled upwards to form the trough. They are connected together by universal joints (10), turning as one, and run in bearings (6, 7) which, in turn, are suspended from the support cables (8, 9). To negotiate a bend or curve, the support cable (9) on the inside may be lowered a calculated distance (h) below the outside cable (8). Alternatively, each side roller on the inside may be shorter in length, the cables remaining at the same height.
