Abstract

The coverlet (1) has a peripheral gathering cord (3) and is for use on cushions and upholstery items such as a chair back or seat squabs etc. The coverlet is designed for fitting to a range of cushion sizes and the cord draws the coverlet in a taught and unwrinkled fashion into a state of retention on the cushion. The cord is provided over part or pref. the entire coverlet periphery; in the former case in two symmetrical lengths extending for the whole coverlet width and short sections along the long coverlet sides. The cord enables pockets to be formed contg. cushion corners. The cord ends are anchored to the cover, and are guided over the rest of their length by eyelets (42) or bands sewn onto the cover.
