Abstract

The circuit breaker is intended particularly for isolating capacitor banks or vacuum cables. The circuit breaker is cylindrical and has an inert gas filling, the electrical connection points being at the cylinder ends. Two breaker positions are possible, open and closed and are achieved using one fully mobile contact and one fixed contact, this latter carrying a limited movement element. Operation is by a piston and cylinder, the cylinder being withdrawn from the overall shape, this movement both withdrawing a cranked arm contact and releasing a spring held lever system at the fixed contact end. During opening of the contact breaker the limiter movement element stays in contact with an arc contact on the mobile contact, then moves away under spring force.
