Abstract

The supporting structure of a vehicle, under the bonnet, consists of two longitudinal girders between the front bumper and a deep cross member forward of, and below the windscree, consisting substantially of a bent-up sheet which in cross section is an inverted L shaped with a short vertical flange on the horizontal arm and a short horizontal flange on the vertical arm, each covering a front wheel. The front of each girder has a flap folded across it for attachment to the front bumper, and the rear of each has a gusset for connection to the cross member under the windscreen.
