A rigid roof 1 is pivoted at 5 to a pillar a rear window assembly 8 which is itself pivoted at 9 to the vehicle body so that when the assembly 8 is swung rearwardly below the waist line the roof part 1 will lie above it with the forward part 2 abutting the seat 16.
