Abstract

1,002,670. Vehicle roofs. FRUEHAUF CORPORATION. Aug. 12, 1964 [Sept. 17, 1963], No. 32863/64. Heading B7B. The frame members at the upper edges of the side walls of a vehicle body are provided with outwardly-directed flanges such as the flange 32 on the front transverse member 20 and the flange 52 on the rear frame member 22, so as to provide an upper surface which is recessed at 38 and 58 to hold a layer of adhesive. The separate roof panels 28 are transversely arranged and the edges of the panels are bent under the flanges at 30 and 50 where they are secured by rivets 40 or screws 62. Transverse joints in the panels 28 are adhesively secured to roof bearers 26 and are secured together by a capping member 80.
