Abstract

Burner diffuser plates manufactured in heat resisting steel are subject to corrosion and erosion during operation. This results in the distortion of the deflector plate andd the need of its replacement after 8 - 10 months operation. Ceramic plates made from Refrax 20C (RTM) does not distort under heat and provides an extended life for the deflector plate. The plate is in the form of a dish (1) with the centre portion removed and stands on four cast legs (2). The plate is bolted to its support through the bolt holes n3) and (6). The support has a similar parallel dish but has a central cylinder. The flue gases are supplied through the cylinder.
