Abstract

The vessel (10) is made from stainless steel and compises two sides, two ends and a flat bottom (12). Above this bottom is fitted a false bottom (11), the space between being reinforced by partitions (13) which are perforated (14) to permit water circulation. This space is part filled with water and sealed hermetically. Heating is by gas or electric elements (20). The former is applied directly to the flat bottom, the latter is contained in auxiliary tanks, cylindrical in shape, connected through the flat bottom to produce thermosiphoning. A thermostat (19) controls heating to about 110 deg. and a fusible plug (15) acts as a pressure safety valve when the pressure in the base is above about 15 bars.
