Abstract

The multiway connector, consisting of a plug and socket, is intended for applications where a very high degree of confidence in correct alignment and mating of individual male-female connector pins is required and where correct connection needs to be positively ascertained as in aircraft and missile electronics. The plug and socket elements are held together by one element having an over-riding shell into which the other element fits and locks. Correct connection is demonstrated by a group of three pin elements acting as a switch which is operated by correct mating of the connector. A central keyed shaft in each connector provides correct angular orientation.
