Abstract

The armature, ofr a dynamo, has an iron core with 2N slots and a commutator with N segments for the core's N whole windings. Each whole winding consists of two sub-windings located in different slots. Compared to other armatures the number of commutator segments is reduced by half. The commutator is smaller for a given number of slots, and the number of slots between teeth is increased compared to the number of whole windings so that the armature has greater cooling. The number of segments is at least equal to 11. The armature can be manufactured cheaply.
