Abstract

The invention is particularly applicable to the repair of domestic washing machines where the soldered connection has broken. The coupling consists of a tubular member with an external thread and an end flange with a radial groove. A metal cage formed from a thin wall cylinder with longitudinal slots bounded by a continuous ring of metal at each end is clamped between the flange and a nut. The bars of the cage are given an initial outward camber so that they deform radially to form a flattened star when the nut is fully tightened to clamp a seal against the wall of the machine tube.
