Abstract

The casing on the shaft side has a flange (10) around its periphery a distance below the gland opening. The flange or strap (1) compressing the packing around the shaft has a number of holes, spaced to coincide with tapped holes in the casing flange, receiving bolts fitting in the tapped holes. Small proective pots with a rim at the open end and a through hole in the flat bottom may fit in the strap holes to receive the tensioning bolts (9) shielded by the pots. A protective cover seals the top of each pot.
