Abstract

The machine is particularly for use as a row-crop vine-yard tractor or for material handling on a building site etc., having one front steering and two rear wheels, all driven by hydraulic motors mounted directly on them. The chassis is constructed of tubes acting as a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid, while the rear wheels are mounted on the legs of a transverse inverted U-section gantry. The hydraulic system incorporates a variable-output pump, typically driven by an internal combustion engine, and means for dividing the pump output are followed by a selector serving at least the rear wheel motors. The dividing unit is so connected to the front wheel motor that this is always supplied whatever direction it is pointing in, while one or the other of the rear ones can be cut off.
