Abstract

Additives for improving the cold filterability of liq. hydrocarbon fuels (esp. middle distillates) comprise prods. obtd. by radical crosslinking of (a) >=1 straight-chain paraffin of mol. wt. 350-450 or >=1 microcrystalline paraffin wax of mol. wt. 650-800 contg. 20-70 wt. % of straight-chain components, with (b) >=1 divinyl monomer. The additives are capable of reducing the cold filter plugging point of domestic fuel oils and diesel oils by >=10 degrees C when added in amts. of 100-300g/cm3.
