Abstract

Rotary grinder embodies a symmetrical cross (8) with rollers (9) at each leg end, centrally bearing the grinder disc (3), the unit travelling along a sheet edge on two rollers to straddle successive corners and grind 45 deg. chamfers. This process and mechanism automates the edge chamfering of glass sheets. A rectangular sheet (2) workpiece traverses a table with a lever mounted cruciform carried grinder disc eash side. The discs are sprung to bear on the glass, and as the glass proceeds two wheels will engage each lateral edge until the cruciforms rotate the straddle the trailing corners.
