Abstract

A variable delivery pump (8), controlled by regulator (39), feeds high pressure fluid to a motor (1) through a three way valve (9). A two way valve (6), with spring bias (38), allows full flow and turns the motor (1) slowly with high torque. This drives the wheel attached to the output shaft (5). As the speed increases, the delivery from another pump (3) increases, passes through the pipes (12, 15) to the control side (14) of the two way valve (6). This changes over and a pump (7) feeds fluid to the control piston (2) of the motor (1). The cylinder capacity is reduced and the motor speed increases into the higher speed range.
