Abstract
1312984 Controlling motor vehicles ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 12 May 1970 [13 May 1969] 22823/70 Heading B7H The hydrostatic transmission of e.g. a vehicle includes a variable delivery pump 4 whose displacement is controlled in accordance with the speed of an external machine, e.g. a rotary hoe 10, driven from the drive unit 1. Vehicle wheels 8 are driven from an electric motor or I.C. engine 1 via an hydrodynamic torque converter 3 and hydraulic motor 7 supplied by pump 4. A belt drive 9 drives the hoe 10 whose speed is measured by a pump 12 the output of which is supplied to the valve cylinder 16 of a control device (Fig. 2). Valve cylinder 16 houses a valve spool 27 whose position depends on the delivery pressure from pump 12 and in dependence on which fluid flows to the right hand chamber of an adjuster cylinder 21 whose piston rod 43 is connected via a linkage 44 to pump 4. Another piston-rod 45 has cam surfaces 46, 47 which control change-over valves 23, 20 between cylinders 16 and 21. The control device functions to increase the displacement of pump 4 as the speed of the hoe rises, decrease the displacement at the speed as the hoe drops and reduce the displacement to zero when the speed of the hoe falls below a certain value.
