Abstract
The supply circuit, for an infra red lamp, has a diode (4) in series with the infra red lamp (2) and bridged by a switch. With the switch open, the a.c. supply is rectified by the diode before reaching the lamp, and is therefore reduced in power; but with the switch closed the diode is short circuited and the unrectified a.c. reaches the lamp, resulting in maximum power being supplied. The advantage of the circuit lies in its simplicity. Several IR lamps may be coupled in parallel and supplied via the same diode/switch circuit, or they can be supplied each from a separate such circuit.
