Abstract

1324598 Supply systems for fluorescent lamps BARDIC SYSTEMS LTD 4 Nov 1970 [6 Nov 1969] 54446/69 Heading H2H Fluorescent lighting apparatus comprises two fluorescent lamps 10, 11 connected in series and supplied from a battery 12 by way of an inverter 15, the apparatus further including a switch 36 which, when operated, short circuits one of the lamps and simultaneously reduces the output of the inverter. The inverter comprises a transistor 16 having its collector connected to the primary winding 17/1 of a transformer 17, the feed back winding 17/3 of the transformer being connected to the base of the transistor whilst the lamps 10, 11 are connected in series across the secondary winding 17/2. With the two parts of the switch 36 in the positions shown the lamp 11 is short circuited and the feed-back circuit of the inverter includes the resistor 34. With the parts of the switch in their alternative positions the short circuit is removed from lamp 11 and a resistor 35 is placed in parallel with the resistor 34 in the feed-back circuit.
