Abstract

The light tube has a glass sleeve (6) with two metal end terminations (71) each of which is connected to an internal electrode. The light tube is placed in a separate enclosure (31) which is hermetically sealed and which contains an inductive loop (2) connected to an external coupling loop (3). The internal inductive loop (2) can be placed around the metal and termination (71) at one end of the light tube and is used to solder the latter to the glass sleeve (6) when the external coupling loop is brought below a further inductive coupling loop (1) extending from a generator (10).
