Abstract

1,005,676. Vacuum switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 7, 1964 [May 15, 1963], No. 19366/63. Heading H2B. The shield 6 of a vacuum switch is provided at one end with a recess 9 and a getter device 10 is secured across the mouth of the recess 9 so as to lie substantially within the peripheral surface of the shield 6. The getter may take the form of a tube sealed at its ends to the shield and containing the gas absorbent material or of a strip or wire of the getter material. The getter is activated by heating due to an external source of high frequency radiation (not shown).
