Abstract

The front of the vehicle has two horizontal wheels at the corners and mounted on bell cranks. Upon contact of the wheels with an obstacle the bell cranks pivot against the force of springs and operate a spring loaded hydraulic system. The result of this is that supports for the front steering wheels of the vehicle are unlocked, allowing the steering wheels to turn to divert the vehicle from the obstacle and so prevent a head on collision. The vehicle may taper towards the front and rear to improve the deflection if the vehicle hits or is hit by a vehicle travelling in the same direction.
