Abstract

1332025 Seat arrangements; vehicle bodies; vehicle steering mechanism A P PEDRICK 14 April 1971 8756/71 Headings B7J B7B and B7H A motor vehicle having at least one passenger seat 4 in front of and at a lower level than a driver's seat 3. The passenger cab is formed as a unit which slides forward on guides 11 relative to the chassis in the event of the vehicle hitting an obstruction. The cab is connected to a spring 16 which decelerates the cab. Inflatable air bags may be attached to the front of the cab to cushion impact of the cab hitting the obstruction or landing on the ground. The steering, accelerator and brake linkages 32 within the cab are disconnectably coupled at 33, 42 to corresponding linkages within the chassis. Spare wheels (17), Fig. 4 (not shown), are arranged at the front and rear of the vehicle and are urged outwardly of the vehicle by springs to form resilient bumpers.
