Abstract

The automobile (3) has two bars (4) tilted towards the front of the car. They pivot at one end on bearings (5). At the other end is a cross bar (6) fitted to the vehicle front. This cross bar forms the bumper. At the moment of collision of sufficient force against obstruction (9) a couple is produced around bearings (5). The bars (4) then pivot around bumper (6) and move to position (4') and the bearings move to (5'). This tilts the front of the vehicle and some of the collision shock is so absorbed. The bumper moves downwardly and to the ground, the vehicle reaching an almost vertical position.
