Abstract

The workpiece clamping fixture has a base which supports adjustable clamping jaws. The fixture has a clamping slide which moves at right angles to the clamping jaw displacement. The slide is coupled to the jaw by a profiled rib and groove coupling. The profiled ribs of the sliding block guide the suitably grooved supporting blocks on which are mounted clamping jaws. The plunger with its outwards projecting end actuates the sliding block with actuating ribs. The ribs are profiled to impart desired speeds and clamping force on the jaws by wedging action, with the variable speed movement being provided by different taper slots.
